SILVERFISH TRAPS

Unfortunately, as was always the case, the first step in silverfish eradication is to get rid of all dampness in the home, and sealing up all the points of entry for those pesky silverfish. Next is to remove free food sources such as old stored books, picture albums, and even any starchy foods you may have in your home. Keep those in airtight containers or in your fridge. Following all of this, you may now wish to acquire some silverfish traps.

These traps come in a variety of different kinds; the best-known ones are Silverfish Paks, Intice Granular Baits, and Niban. Traps will work well because when the silverfish enters it to “dine” it will become stuck in the glue that is inside the trap, and thus it will kill it.

Of course, these traps furthermore catch roaches and ants as well, thus they also perform an additional service for the beleaguered homeowner who is beset by the pesky silverfish. There are different kinds of baits that do not instantly kill the silverfish but allow it to return “home” to die where they usually share their find with other silverfish first, thus you end up killing many instead of the one.

If you have pets or small children in your home, be sure and read all about what is contained in any silverfish traps you may purchase. Some are deadly to more than just the silverfish, unfortunately. You will then of course wish to purchase non-toxic traps.

When you procure these traps you will wish to make sure that the particular trap will capture not only adult silverfish, but also the nymph stages of the silverfish. Science has created the newer more advanced traps for you, since they contain silverfish pheromones to attract the silverfish, which then are trapped in the aforementioned sticky substances.
