KILL SILVERFISH

Silverfish are a household pest that will specifically invade damp areas in your home such as bathrooms, basements, near leaky roofs, or anywhere that allows dampness to congregate in your home. To kill silverfish, the first defense is to rid yourself of the damp areas, by fixing those leaks, or utilizing dehumidifiers to take away the humidity found in your home.

Next, you will have to find their source of food. Silverfish tend to live on primarily any kind of glue, thus you should check under wallpaper, within the confines of any books you may have and peer through your photo albums as well. Clothing hung up in a damp closet are primary foods for pesky silverfish, especially if you have any clothing that has been starched, as it is the starch that appeals to them in wallpaper, and the other items already mentioned.

Silverfish also like to eat sugar, and of course they dearly love cereal, since that combines starch and sugar. You would do well to keep such foods out of their reach by keeping them in airtight containers, or perhaps you may wish to simply pop them into your refrigerator.

Do seal all points of entry well such as in the region of pipes and other openings. Any cracks in walls will also need to be well sealed against silverfish. To remove any infestations, vacuum carefully along baseboards and all crevices prior to sealing them.

There are a number of ways to kill them, inclusive of sprays, bombs, and extermination dust. Whichever you choose make sure to keep pets safe from the various poisons you may prefer. Silverfish abhor citrus sprays, thus those with a citrus base are especially efficacious to kill silverfish. Because commercial exterminators use sprays that kill a number of pests, regular extermination is also warranted to destroy silverfish.
